DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A senior army officer and three of his relatives, who were kidnapped earlier this week from Kulachi tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan district, have been released unconditionally, the military said on Saturday night.
In a concerning incident in Kulachi tehsil, Dera Ismail Khan, Lt Col Khalid Ameer, a senior army officer, along with three of his relatives, were kidnapped from a mosque in Mohalla Khadr Khel. They were attending a gathering to receive condolences for their father’s recent death. The abductees included Lt Col Ameer’s two brothers, one of whom works for the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and the other for the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The kidnapping was carried out by suspected militants, who forcibly took them to an undisclosed location. Subsequently, videos surfaced showing two of the brothers seated in front of a black cloth, surrounded by armed individuals with obscured faces. In these videos, they mentioned being far from government-controlled areas, heightening concerns about their safety.
The situation was resolved when tribal elders and local notables intervened, leading to the safe and unconditional release of all four abductees. The military, through the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed their release, emphasizing the crucial role of local efforts in securing their return. All the abductees have safely returned home, bringing relief to their families and the community.
